Factors that affect my pricing 1. YOU OWN IT. I do “work for hire”. That means you hire me to create your map and I do the work. It also has a legal definition. That is, when you hire me to do a job, even though it’s to your specifications, the finished product is yours to keep – to do whatever you want to do with it. You can copyright it or whatever. My name does not appear on your map. However, I do require your permission to let me use generic-type maps, including yours, to serve my other customers. (This arrangement will be spelled out on your invoice.)
2. RESEARCH. How much research your project requires of me can impact price significantly. I have access to many resources that can almost eliminate any research for me. But, if your map is a little bit “off the wall”, you can save by providing the research I’ll need. Infographics often cost significantly more because of the amount of research required.
3. DETAIL ON THE MAP. There are simple maps. And there are complex maps – maps with a lot of detail. Obviously the former is less expensive than the latter. 4. CARTOGRAPHIC STYLE. I offer more than one style, and some are more expensive than others. (See my Samples) Example: A shaded relief map will be priced much higher than most other styles. 5. TIME REQUIRED TO DRAW THE MAP. Bottom line, when you give me your specs (see ordering information on the next page), I’ll quote you a price – usually within 24 hours. I’ll email it to you so you have a record of the quote.
How to order
1. Call me (727-643-1345) to discuss your needs and your specs. I’ll guarantee you’ll get a human (me) – or my voice mail if you have to stand in line. If you get voice mail, I apologize. I’ll be back to ASAP. Or email me at support@gipublications.com giving me details of your needs.
2. Once you have accepted my quote I’ll email you an invoice for the full amount.
3. For me to touch my mouse for you, I‘ll need your check (sorry, no credit cards yet) for HALF of the invoice.
4. Receipt of your HALF down payment check tells me you’re serious and it’s time for me to produce your map.
5. You get a proof before I make the final disc, so you can make corrections. If they are what I call excessive, you pay for the changes ($50/hr). The balance of the invoice is due on receipt of the disc containing your map(s). If you want express shipping, you pay for it. |
